Pukhtun Journal in Historical Perspective (Pashto)
(2023)
Pukhtun Majalla Da Tarikh Pa Ranha Kay is another great contribution of Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah, published recently by Bacha Khan Research Centre, Peshawar. Pukhtun journal was the first Pashto journal started by Bacha Khan in May 1928. During the Freedom movement, it appeared in four stages, banned repeatedly by the Colonial administration. The last issue appeared on 10th August 1947. It contains articles and writing on almost all aspects of the Pashtoon society. According to a careful estimate, about 220 issues were published. Professor Wiqar Shah collected it during his research on the Khudai Khidmatgar movement.
To provide some information about the contents of the Pukhtun, Prof Shah has decided to publish a small portion from the huge book. The present work of 150 pages focuses on the Pukhtun and the Khudai Khidmatgar movement, Pukhtun ,Afghanistan and Amir Amanullah Khan, Pukhtun and History, Pukhtun and Pashto Literature, Pukhtun and Pashto Journalism and Women Contribution in Pukhtun. The Preface of the book has been written by Asfandyar Wali Khan and Afrasiyab Khattak.

Ethnicity, Islam and Nationalism (English)
(2015)
This book deals with the complex political and ideological developments in the North-West Frontier Province during the last decade of colonial rule. By focusing on the Khudai Khidmatgar movement it examines the emergence of modern styles of agitational and democratic politics among the N-WFP Muslims, the majority of whom were Pashtoons. The issue of Pashtoon ethnicity, its interaction with subcontinental Muslim identity and Indian nationalism, are central themes of this study. This tripolar relationship had its ambiguities, especially in relating Pashtoon ethno-regionalism with Muslim nationalism as articulated by the All-India Muslim League.
Ethnizität, Islam und Nationalismus (German)
(2017)
Its the German translation of the book “Ethnicity, Islam and Nationalism”. It focuses on the politics of the North West Frontier Province of undivided India between 1937 and 1947, the only Muslim majority province which supported the Indian National Congress in its struggle against the British Raj.
It also explores the rise of the Khudai Khidmatgars, the Congress ‘desertion’ of the Frontier people on the eve of Partition, the dismissal of the provincial Congress ministry by M.A. Jinnah, and the ambiguous position of the Khudai Khidmatgars in the context of the new nation of Pakistan.
Pashtoon Women and the National Service (Pashto)
(2012)
This book is about the role of Pashtoon women in the independence of Indian subcontinent, its impact upon their lives; as well as emphasizing women education and observing their place in the given context. It refutes a well formulated self critique, which is fundamentally assumed, nevertheless optimistic – while flavored with some of the finest “poetry of substance”. A must read for those who wants to have an insight into the culturally infused, rather recursive, form of Abdul Ghaffar Khan’s (Bacha Khan’s) movement being reflected upon women.

North-West Frontier Province: History & Politics (English)
(2007)
The book which is in fact a collection of the author’s articles published in various journals or edited works in the course of many years, focuses on the history and politics of the N-WFP. The province has always been known for its strategic and political importance and because of that was treated in a “special way” by the British during their rule in India.
Unfortunately, that policy had fateful results for the Frontier Province as the reform measures, so essential for good governance, were denied to the province for a long time. The present study deals with the growth of mass politics in the N-WFP and examines its impact upon the people of the province by focusing on various phases of its history.
Muslim League in N.W.F.P (English)
(1992)
The North West Frontier Province had special importance strategically as well as politically in the struggle of freedom and the movement of Pakistan. This subject has been practically ignored by Pakistani scholars. Unfortunately the All India Muslim League is among the most ignored subjects. Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah is a pioneer in making an objective and comprehensive study of the Frontier Muslim League. He discusses its Formation, Organisation and functioning during 1936-47. The book analyses Quaid’s role in strengthening the party in the Province and the party’s role in the passage of Lahore Resolution and in the historic movement immediate before independence.
Khushal Khan Khattak and Historiography (Pashto)
(1992)
This book focuses on historiography in the poems of Khushal Khan Khattak. Like many fields of knowledge, Khushal Baba was an expert and authority on history. He mentioned all the Kings/Queens who ruled Delhi from its foundation till his time, the era of Shah Jahan, the Mughal. He also eulogized the services of Bahlol Lodi and Sher Shah Suri in bringing the Afghans together and creating strong bonds of ethnic affinity in them. The most important part in the book is his narration of the reign of Aurangzeb Alamgir, famous for his poetry and conservatism. Khushal reveals the true picture of Aurangzeb and elaborated upon his treatment of his brothers and old ailing father Shah Jahan. Aurangzeb executed his elder brother Dara and killed his two brothers, Shuja and Murad as well. He put Shah Jahan in prison who died in captivity in Agra fort. Khushal was a contemporary of Aurangzeb so his portrayal of Aurangzeb is both true and genuine. Unfortunately Khushal does not fit into State narration, that being the main reason why many people are not aware of this important field of knowledge in Khushal’s poetry. In 1993, this book was awarded a Gold Medal by the Abasin Arts Council, Peshawar as one of the rare books written on this field of knowledge.
