Professor Dr. Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah, an international expert on Abdul Ghaffar Khan (Bacha Khan), the Khudai Khidmatgars and the politics of the former North-West Frontier Province (present Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), was born on 10th January 1961 at Ziarat Kaka Sahib, Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr. Shah has a D.Phil in History from the University of Oxford (1997); M.Phil (1986) and M.A. in History from the University of Peshawar (1983); and M.A. in Pashto (1990) from the same University. From October 1986 till February 1990, Dr. Shah served as a research fellow at the National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research in Islamabad. In February 1990, he successfully joined the Department of History, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) as an Assistant Professor.
From 1990 to 2020, Dr. Shah served in various capacities including Provost (Boys Hostel), Member Syndicate, Member AS&RB, Chairman Harassment Committee and on almost all important academic bodies of QAU. Prof. Shah became an Associate Professor and then full Professor of History in 2004. He also served as Director of NIHCR and Director, Area Study Center (American Studies) during his tenure.
