The Faculty of Social Sciences at Quaid-i-Azam University, being the
largest of all the three faculties of QAU, has over 120 qualified staff.
Prof. Dr. Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah, as Dean of this faculty, reached every
faculty member and created a cordial atmosphere for research and teaching.
He also helped the University in bringing more expertise to the Faculty, and at the end of
his tenure as Dean, left eight full Professors along with many Associate
and Assistant Professors.
During his term as Dean, numerous international linkages were established
with many European, American and South East Asian Universities — expanding
the Faculty's global academic footprint and opening new avenues for collaborative research
and student exchange.
Prof. Shah's relations with the students became proverbial. In the recent
past, when the University faced serious challenges involving student unrest on the Campus,
Prof. Shah — being the head of the Committee — always resolved all issues amicably. The
doors of the Dean's office remained open during office hours for the whole day,
for both faculty and students alike.
